Debt Consolidation/Credit Counseling Frequently Asked Questions
Will credit counseling or debt consolidation stop creditors from calling?

Yes by enrolling in a debt consolidation or credit counseling program creditors (credit card companies etc.) should stop calling you. Typically if a creditor contacts you after you have enrolled it is because the collector working for the creditor is not aware that you have signed up for the service. Typically a credit counseling service will request that a customer inform all creditors and collectors that call to contact the counseling service rather then you the customer. Typically after the first 30 day harassing phone calls from collectors will stop.

Know your rights - understand the rules about credit counseling, debt consolidation and collection.
